A Busy, Wonderful Week

Hello everyone! I'm sure you are anxious to see Hudson pictures and hear all about his birth - it's only taken me a week to have time to update. :)

Mike and I went into the hospital at 5:30 last Thursday morning for a 7:30 scheduled c-section. It was really weird just walking into the hospital knowing we were about to have our baby but not being in labor. We walked in at the same time as a woman in labor with twins, who was also going to have a c-section. Since she was in labor she got bumped up before me so she went to the OR first. We knew there would be a delay but we didn't realize how long! Apparently she had some complications so it took longer than expected. They only had one team of nurses at that point so we had to wait until she was out of recovery until we could go in. Needless to say Mike and I both got very bored and antsy. Eventually we went into the OR, they gave me a spinal block, and started prepping. It all went very quickly; much quicker than I expected. I was looking at the clock the entire time thinking that Hudson would be born at the same time as Camden. Hudson was born at 11:47am (Camden was born at 11:50am) so he beat his brother by 3 minutes. How amazing it that, that they were born at almost the exact same time! Hudson came out screaming and didn't stop for at least an hour. They brought him over to me to say hi and take some pictures then he and Mike went to the nursery while the doctor finished my surgery. I was nervous about Mike leaving but I was very lucky to have great nurses who talked to me and made sure I was okay the entire time. The same nurses stayed with me while I was in recovery while Mike stayed with Hudson while he was weighed, measured, checked out, and had his bath. Mike came in every so often to check on me and show me pictures and video of our little boy. I was so out of it and nauseous in recovery though. They gave me a medicine to relax me and it made me very loopy. I also was feeling sick from some of the medication. Again, my nurses were wonderful and took great care of me. The rest of the hospital stay went well and we were released after two days - on Saturday.

Hudson Richard Stewart, 8 lbs 2 oz, 20 3/4 inches long

Hudson looks a lot like Camden as a baby. We kept calling him Camden for the first few days.

Me and my boys

Our blurry first family photo. We actually haven't taken one since.

Camden came to see us at the hospital when he got out of school on Thursday. He was interested in Hudson for a few minutes, then moved on to playing.

First car ride!

Camden's first time holding Hudson. He was so tired after all the excitement but we promised he'd get to hold him after his bath. He has asked several times to hold him since and loves to give him kisses. He even shares his toys and books with Hudson.

Camden was excited to see us and got to open birthday presents from all of his grandparents. Mike's parents left on Saturday and my mom stayed until Monday. Camden had so much fun with all of them! He had adjusted pretty well so far. He didn't nap for 3 days after we got home and was concerned every time Hudson cried. But he is getting used to everything I think. Another exciting event this week is that Camden turned two! I can't believe our baby is now a big boy. He acts older and more mature every day. Well, more mature in the words and phrases he uses not necessarily in behavior. :) He uses sentences almost exclusively now instead of just choppy words. He comes up with the funniest things and always has us laughing. Last night there were some rare thunderstorms here. Camden woke up scared and Mike went in to put him back to bed. He was wide awake. He asked about me, then to go to the playroom (almost checking to make sure it was still there). Mike decided to let him go check it out and on the way he talked about how the light was bright. Then they got to the playroom and he said "Daddy mows lawn" and something about the rain being on the lawn. Then he asked for ice in his water. Mike read him a couple of books to settle him down then he went back to bed.

He loves eating at the new table my mom got him for his birthday. Other big presents were a Lightening McQueen chair from Grammy and Pops and a tricycle from us.

More of the icing got in his hair and on his face than in his mouth!

Sporting his new swim outfit from Mike's parents.

We are so happy with our family of four! It has been a busy but wonderfully blessed week.
